  • Nice piece about Sturm.. what are the odds he comes back to be a senior captain? Slim to none probably.

    • As long as he is upfront with the coaching staff about the route he wants to take, and doesn't surprise them like Dickinson, they'll be ready to reload based on the recruiting info we have seen in the other thread. Sturm has stepped up majorly, I am somewhat disappointed we haven't seen similar from Brosseau yet. Egle is on a whole new level this year and it is awesome to watch.

Just about every college hockey show I watch or listen to lately is talking about the expected exodus of talent to the pros after this season, the likes of which we've never seen before. Many of the people who are "in the know" are pointing to the lack of projectable talent in the AHL. I guess they're really looking to change the face of the AHL to more prospect heavy. With the national press Nico is getting, it definitely may be this season where he gets the right opportunity. Personally, I think he'd be able to develop into a perfect 4th liner in Coach Quinn's system in NY and he has plenty of openings there. :-D

I said it the night they lost at Appleton, that loss is going to have a big impact down the road. And it very well could, depending on how the rest of the field plays.

This weekend is going to be absolutely huge to have a chance to get a little separation from those chasing us down.
That loss may have an impact on the ECAC standings, but, in the national picture, it really isn't that different from if we had beaten SLU and lost to Minnesota–Duluth (RPI works by using winning percentage, opponents winning percentage, and opponents-opponents winning percentage). While the SLU would have been removed from opponents winning percentage had we won, we also pick-up a QWB for the Minnesota–Duluth win so its probably a wash. Ultimately, the difference is pretty small so long as we finish in the top 4 of the ECAC, which I think should be doable, and the national picture is what we really care about.

Yeah i meant in terms of a top 4 finish in league. Which we all know is crucial to get to Placid.. I think it will be a tight race.. i may be in the minority but i care more about seeing these guys bring home a league tournament title first, its been a over a decade.... then think big. But thats just me...... that and we already have our place rented again in Placid for the weekend haha.

            • Some good news on the injury front … Brian Hurley is dressed tonight vs. Harvard as the 7th defenseman. Missed the last 10 games.

                  • A repeat of the 2004 ECAC Championship game. Late in the game with the score tied Tech loses a faceoff in its zone and Bang a goal for Harvard

I was there, need not be reminded of that one.

I believe my reaction was "Not again!" Too many last minute playoff losses since that fateful March night in 1977.

I was there as well. To this day, whenever we have a faceoff in our end with less than a minute or in OT I get a flashback of that night.

                            • Let's hope Kielly isn't a sieve tonight against D-mouth like he was last night.

37 of 41 isn't an awful save performance (hardly being a sieve in my opinion).
