(it probably would have missed high anyway). Cornell did the full court press also and the only line that could handle it was the top line. Cornell's forwards overall seemed to me to be quicker and more skilled with the puck handling as was their defense (Hart and Bourbonaise especially).
Everyone gets distracted by the scorers but what they often forget is that our defense is no longer elite. We have enough scoring ability and talent on the top 2 lines but the defense is not as strong as it was (not saying it's bad, but we aren't a national championship contender).

The thing about that is, we don't really have a reason for the defense to be struggling so much. Harmon is really the only loss that the defense took that didn't have an immediate replacement (Sauve was an All-American in her own right and, from what I've read, was likely the next in line for All-American last year had Tiley not had a sensational year). The defense to me also did not look like they played particularly poorly without the puck. Once they had the puck, though, they didn't seem sure of what to do with it under pressure from Colgate or Cornell, and often turned it over and then repeated the cycle until they wore themselves out and took a penalty. If you look at the score line from the weekend, Clarkson actually won the 5-on-5 non-empty net scoring 21, but put themselves on the penalty kill 11 times (even if I think the call on Pozzebon immediately after coming out of the box was nonsense). I still think if this team could figure out how to break the puck out properly, they could get back to national title contender status. This weekend against SLU will be big since the Saints are also running around in circles right now.

        • Well lets hope the reset button has been engaged and the team get's 4 points this weekend. Should be two really competitive and tight games.
Tech gets the points, 3 to 1 at Appleton and 4 to 2 at Cheel.

          • Things can always change, but Clarkson has in every one of the past five seasons, except 201415, taken the majority of its losses within a month-long span in the fall. Not saying the same will be the case this year, but at least there is precedent for them to punch their way out.

            • After 1 period Clarkson was lucky they were not down 3 -0, a crossbar and 2 posts saved them. SLU outplayed them. The knights had few scoring chances. Then period 2 starts and BANG, 3 goals in 2:15 get Tech up 3-0. Giguere, Vinkle and Pidgeon with the goals. The coaching staff has been juggling the lines seeing what might lead to more scoring. Even took Pezjlova off the top line and replaced her with Mariani. After 2 periods it's 3-0 CCT.

I also am not sure if it is an issue on my end or the SLU broadcast (ESPN+ ??) but every time I try to watch the game on full screen I get full screen horizontally but only 1/2 screen vertically (the bottom half is not there) . I watched some of the BC Merrimack game during the break between periods 1 and 2 and full screen was full screen. This was on ESPN3. Will be interesting to see what happens with the mens game from appleton tonight.

Trying another browser might work? I use Edge and that was fine (other than the occasional Appleton frame rate drop, seriously Clarkson has better streams than SLU).

                    • If you want to see the difference between coach Desrosiers and others, like, for example, Casey Jones, look no further than the decision Desrosiers made today. He knew he had the best line in the country, but knew he struggling for production from his other lines. What does he do? Split his the line up so that Cianfarano has someone else to work with on the second line. Despite the instinct to lean more heavily on the only line that was producing, he made a change that I didn't even think of. The result? Clarkson is all of a sudden the better team again (except for maybe the first period which I missed part of while getting ESPN to remember my subscription).

I will try that to see if it corrects things. I was using Chrome. SLU's camera's it's like watching the action from the last row in a 50 row theater. It is so far away you can't tell what happens on the goal scoring or play around the net.

Well, same issue with Chrome tonight in the mens game but it was corrected by switching to Edge. Should not have even bothered given the score of the men's game.

                          • Not the prettiest win out of Clarkson, but good dominance for stretches and solid defensive plays when in the stretches where they were sloppy with the puck. Both teams probably a little lucky not to concede more than they did, although I felt Clarkson also had the best missed chances. Most importantly, it gets Clarkson back into a home ECAC Quarterfinal spot before break and sets up a top 5 clash in Belfast.
