Nope. Kind of strange if only Freshman. Wonder why.

That means the ECAC schedule is messed up until 2021.

Arizona State has already canceled 2 weekends against teams. Doubt Clarkson will go to Tempe. Looks like Michigan could make a return to the NCAA tournament. I would have loved to see them come up to Cheel, but instead they have to play Michigan Tech again, who we outnumber on paper. Hopefully Dunne and McCarthy can finally end the NCAA tournament losing streak.

Michigan has the top 2021 defenseman prospect Owen Power coming in, 2021 top 10 pick Kent Johnson, probable 2020 forward and first rounder Brendan Brisson, USHL goaltender OT the year in 6’6 Erik Portillo who was a early 3rd rounder of Buffalo in 2019, 2020 forward Thomas Bordeleau from the USNDTP who is going to be a late 1st/early 2nd round pick, forward that’s eligible for this draft Josh Groll who was a point per game player on Lincoln in the USHL, Steve Holtz who is an older physical D who played a few USHL season before switching to Penticton for his final junior year, forward captain of Trail who had 55 points in 36 games in Philippe Lapointe, and then last but not least another draft eligible defenseman who probably goes 2nd-3rd round in Jacob Truscott.

NZ can have their opinions but there’s no other recruiting class even close to that, they will be young but if most of those guys stick around for a few years because of how early they’re coming in then Michigan probably wins it all at least once over the next 3 years but they’ll suffer from early departures surely.

Clarkson will never compete with that but where we can compete is actually developing talent, when the Rempal class came in it was basically written on the wall if any of them had huge years they could make the jump at anytime, mostly because of their age and how old they were coming in as freshmen. Now we are mixing in those older guys with younger guys that have a lot of upside but still have obvious areas to work on. Getting Dunne and McCarthy to stay was crucial, while we lose plenty, we still have Dunne, Gosselin, Tsekos down the middle who can rival most college hockey teams IMO. If some of our young freshmen defensemen step up and we find a #1 goalie we should be in line for another tournament bid. Can’t wait to see the likes of Beck, Pasanen, Power and see how they adjust to the college game because despite their junior success, they are all going to be newly turned 19 year olds as freshmen and I think Power has a chance to be a 20-25 point guy. Haider ultimately wins the job imo and was just caught in a bad situation in Sioux City but what’s different from years past is we have other options with Mucitelli or Oldham and the margin for error will be small if they’re pushing each other.

The uncertainty of the season is concerning and needs to be talked about, I highly doubt that Wisconsin tournament or any tournament really happens. So are we scrambling for a team to come up to Potsdam? Will the AZ State trip even happen? What would it mean for eligibility for the seniors? Do our freshmen stay and wait to play if there is no season? Ultimately there are a lot of questions, hopefully things get settled in and figured out soon.

It is huge, that also helps recruiting in the future. Not sure why Michigan is up there, athletes must want the Wolverines to be a better team again...?
(edit - is there a way I can view it free? I am not paying to view it.)

According to NeutralZone, Clarkson’s incoming class ranks 3rd nationally, behind #1 North Dakota, and #2 Michigan. That is huge.

Since exhibitons have been canceled, the NCAA is allowing teams that had scheduled exhibitions against Canadian teams have a chance to play a NC opponent at home, which would count as an exhibition game.

Just thinking, with the COVID-19 cases rising again in Arizona, Florida, and Texas, the trip at Arizona State could very well get canceled. Holy Cross has already canceled their trip to Tempe. Also hearing rumors that they are trying to re-schedule the exhibition game vs Ottawa. Looks like right now it could be January 2nd. Not confirmed yet, though.

The only thing we have going for us is the NCAA can’t lose their football money and if football is a go, hockey is a go, that doesn’t mean normal, I don’t think anyone knows what that means in terms of fans. They’re trying to get the new guys on campus ASAP but it’s a difficult circumstance. I could care less about exhibitions unless it’s the USNTDP, there’s no reward for the D1 team, and the injuries that could present themselves are something teams like us with a small roster need to prevent. We are lucky to have Tad, he’s great at what he does and hopefully he’s around for awhile.
