  • CLARKSON versus Brown...February 19, 2010

Well the game from Providence, RI, is underway.

Both teams have had a power play, and neither team has scored.

Now Mark Borowiecki is called for a holding penalty.

Paul Karpowich is in goal for the Golden Knights.

9:13 remains in Period 1.....no score yet.

According to Bob, Clarkson has had several breakdowns and the Golden Knights are fortunate not to be down by a couple of goals Paul has been great in goal so far. I believe that Chris Rogles is offering assistance to the Clarkson goalies during the week.

Matt Beca stole the puck and went towards the Brown goal, but his shot was wide.

Brandon DeFazio and Scott Freeman combined for a shot on goal, but no luck with that...too bad.

Time is running out for Period 1, and Clarkson skates down the ice towards the Brown net. Adam Pawlick was close to the net and nearly scored. Corey Tamblyn dropped a pass back, but Brown took it away.

      Period 1 ended with a 0 ~ 0 tie.

Clarkson did have some good opportunities but just couldn't score.

        Period 2 has begun.

MATT BECA STEALS THE PUCK AND GOES IN ALONE TO SCORE HIS 17TH GOAL OF THE YEAR.

Way to go, Matt....we are going to miss you so much next year!

        CLARKSON....1 brown....nothing

          Matt Beca's goal was unassisted.

The referees have already missed several calls against Brown, which would have given Clarkson power plays.

Paul Karpowich is on his game toknight, and he has made some great saves so far.

Louke Oakley and Nick Tremblay combine for a shot on goal, but the Brown goalie made the save.

Paul Karpowich makes two beautiful saves.

Dan Reed is called for a Clarkson penalty.

Brown's power play resulted in no goal being scored.

Dan Reed and Matt Beca both had great chances to score.

It seems that the referees are again missing calls which should be made against Brown....oh dear.

Two minutes remain in Period 2.

Paul just made a brilliant save on a backhand shot by a Brownie.

Paul made two great saves before Brown nearly scored....whew....very close.

The score at the end of Period 2 is CLARKSON...1....and the Brownies still trying to score.

Paul Karpowich has made 25 saves in the game so far.

Period 3 begins with Bryan Rufenach in the Clarkson penalty box.

On darn it, Brown just scored with the puck going through Paul's pads....a power play goal for Brown.

The score is tied at one apiece.

Now we will see what Clarkson can do to regain the lead. A high stick was called against Dan Reed at 1:33 of Period 3, and a Brown player was given a dive penalty.

Unfortunately, a Brown player walked in front of the net, shoots, and scores. Brown has two goals in under two minutes....terrible news for Clarkson.

Brown leads 2 ~ 1....how awful for Clarkson.

Tim Marks seems to be playing a very physical game.

Brown is called for a penalty as Matt Beca is hit from behind...a boarding call. This is only the second penalty called against Brown toknight.

Clarkson had some good chances at the beginning of the power play.

Bryan Rufenach made a good shot at the Brown goal, but the save was made.

Scott Freeman had his stick slashed out of his hand while carrying the puck.
Matt Boroweicki slashes a Brown player and Mark gets a penalty.

Rats....Brown just scored another power play goal....Paul Karpowich had no chance to make the save.

The score is now Brown...3....Clarkson..1...how depressing.

Clarkson is trying to set up a play with Matt Beca and another Golden Knight.
Nick Tremblay is called for boarding......Brown's seventh power play of the game. This is really getting ridiculous....Clarkson has only been on the power play twice during the entire game.

Corey Tamblyn and Matt Beca are in the Brown zone, with about seven minutes left in the game.

Paul made a fantastic save to keep some hope still alive.

Clarkson is taking its time with a line change....as the clock ticks down to about four minutes left.

Clarkson was just given a too many men on the ice penalty, and all three coaches are arguing their case. I guess when things go wrong, they really fall apart for the Golden Knights.

                          Paul Karpowich has been pulled.

Brown's three goals came in the first eight minutes of the third period.

Nick Tremblay was hit from behind by a Brownie. It took a while to sort out the penalties. Scott Freeman received a game misconduct as did Brandon DeFazio; both of them received two minutes also.

MATT BECA SHOOTS AND SCORES HIS SECOND GOAL OF THE GAME, AS CLARKSON SCORES A POWER PLAY GOAL, WITH THE ASSIST GIVEN TO BRYAN RUFENACH AT 19:35 OF THE THIRD PERIOD.

                          THE SCORE IS NOW BROWN...3....CLARKSON...2

Clarkson continues to battle for a tie score, but time runs out.

                            Brown won 3 to 2.
